GSM responsibilities

•Accurate forecasting; understands station GAP, develops plans to offset GAP

•Calls on station’s Key Accounts with AE’s

Clear Channel Radio Austin is always looking for Account Executives to join our team.

Prospect, market, sell and service advertising air time and non-spot revenue.  Negotiate business based on industry ratings in order to maximize station revenue and share within parameters set by station management.  Achieve revenue and share goals set by Sales Manager.  Develop new advertisers by soliciting area businesses. Service clients to maintain positive working relationships.  Prepare sales orders and production requests in timely manner.  Resolve billing discrepancies and assist in collections of past due accounts.  Provide regular reports to Sales Manager regarding prospective sales orders, daily call sheets, itineraries, new prospect lists, forecasts, and competition analysis.  Monitor competitive media to continually prospect for new account leads.  Follow station/company practices/policies for processing, invoicing, calculation of sales.  Adhere to minimum standards of performance as established by Sales Manager.  Develop account list from various sources.  Conceive and execute written proposals.
College education preferred. Background in related media sales with a minimum of two years' experience. Outstanding marketing/presentation skills. Strong organizational skills.  Must possess understanding of ratings services. Conversant in radio broadcasting vocabulary.  Computer literate.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations relating to advertising copy.  Strong interpersonal skills.

Each semester Clear Channel Radio Austin will accept eight students to participate in our internship program.  The following are the requirements needed for the internship within the Sales/Digital department:

 

·         Be enrolled in an accredited college or university and must receive school credit for the internship

·         Professional conduct a must

·         Act as a representative of the radio station

·         Professional attire

·         Understand the product of the radio station (s) you are representing

·         Intern schedule to include 10-15 hours per week

 

Internship curriculum includes:

 

  • Participate in the creation of a sales business proposal
  • Understand digital products available to station clientele
  • Research and creation of promotional concepts to be implemented
  • Obtain media coverage for station special events

  • Interact with industry representatives and contacts as a station representative

Each semester Clear Channel Radio Austin will accept students to participate in our internship program within the brand management department. The internship will provide students the opportunity to gain hands on experience within the work place while gaining knowledge about how a successful radio station operates. Specifically the intern will gain an understanding of how the brand management department functions as a vital arm in developing business and promoting various brands to win in the community.

The following are the requirements needed to become a brand management intern at Clear Channel Radio Austin:  

Requirements:

- Student must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and must receive school credit for the internship, providing a letter of verification upon start date
- Act as a professional representative of the radio station
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Professional business attire required
- Be enrolled in a related degreed program or college of study
- Commit to working 10-15 hours per week.  
- Some writing experience required


Students who accept internship positions with Clear Channel Radio Austin can expect to complete the following curriculum: 

- Write a promotional proposal including advertising elements
- Understand marketing tools available to station clientele
- Understand individual station brands 
- Write a factual press release
- Create point of purchase material
- Prepare and create a client recap
- Attend a station promotion/sales meeting
- Attend an inner-departmental meeting
