As the Spurs, Mavericks and Lakers continue to age, it's only a matter of time before the Western Conference Finals end up featuring the OKC Thunder against the Minnesota Timberwolves... that;s right, I said it. Is anyone noticing that Kevin Love is locked up for another four seasons and we continue to see the emergence of PG Ricky Rubio, who had 11 assists in last night's win at Houston... Rubio has recorded 10+ assists in 10-of-their-21 games this season... Only two other players had 10 games with 10 or more assists so early (in terms of games played) in their NBA careers: Damon Stoudamire, who reached that benchmark in 19 games in 1995 for the Raptors, and Phil Ford, who did so through 21 games in 1978 for the Kansas City Kings.

Suddenly the Dallas Mavericks own the Phoenix Suns... The Mavs routed the Suns 122-99 last night, giving them 8 straight wins over Phoenix. That's the longest winning streak for any NBA team versus the Suns in 14 years, since the Lakers won 8 straight from 1995-1998.

Matt Bonner scored a team-high 15 points, all on three-point FGs, in the Spurs' win over the Grizzlies last night... It was the third time this season that Bonner came off the bench and sank at least five threes... No other reserve player in the NBA has done that in more than one game this season.

Let's face it, for the next two weeks sports fans will be inandated... innondated... inno... swamped with stats regarding Super Bowl 46 and the teams which are competing in it... namely the Patriots and Giants. In an attempt NOT to bury the lead allow me to start with what I think is the most amazing stat I heard yesterday:

There were only 7 players on that 2008 Patriots roster who are still on this year's team: QB Tom Brady... RB Kevin Faulk... WR Wes Welker... OT Matt Light... OG Logan Mankins... NT Vince Willfork... PK Stephen Gostkowski.

That means 46 players are gone from that team... a complete makeover of the roster took place except for 7 key components... and that team is back in the Super Bowl already?! Shoot... the 49ers have been sorry for years, hired Jim Harbaugh and they almost got there in his first season?

Is Jerry Jones paying attention? Maybe it doesn't take forever to get back to where you want to go if the proper people are in place. The Giants are almost as impressive as the Patriots...

One thing we know for sure heading into Super Bowl 46... the two organizations who will compete for the Lombardi Trophy know what they're doing.

New England Patriots- OT Kyle Hix was inactive for the Patriots' win over the Denver Broncos on Saturday.

Green Bay Packers- TE Jermichael Finley had 4 receptions for 37 yards in the Packers' 37-20 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

New Orleans Saints- DT Shaun Rogers recorded 1 tackle and 1 QB hit in New Orleans' 36-32 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday... TE David Thomas is on injured reserve and was not active for this game.

New York Giants- CB Aaron Ross recorded 1 tackle and 2 passes defended in the Giants' 37-20 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers- CB Tarell Brown recorded 4 tackles (3 solo), 1 INT and 2 passes defended in the Niners' 36-32 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Saturday.

No matter who wins the NFC title game this Sunday we are guaranteed to have a Longhorn be a part of Super Bowl 46... and if the Ravens advance... those Lifetime Longhorns ought to gather at a downtown deli in Indianapolis for lunch the week of the game.
